A protest has been made by tho Canadian Government to tho United States against a proposal, to take additional water supply for the Chicago drainage canal from the Great Lakes, as the carrying out of such a scheme would bo likely to lower the level of the canals on the St. Lawrence River route, and gravely interfcre with Canadian shipping.
