ENTRIES AND TRICES. The Canterbury ram and cwo fair was held nt the- Addington show grounds on Thursday and Friday of last week and proved successful. The number of stud rams entered for ths sale for 1911 and 1912 v;as as follows :— Mil. 1912. Lincolns 7 3 English Loicesters 12:j 132 Romneys 1 5 Border Leicesters 33 32 Shropshires 27 29 W-ensleydales 3 0 Corriedales 28 39 .Southdowna 15 0 Ryelands 0 1 Totals 246 250 The range of prices was as follows:— Guineas. Lincolns 10 to 15 Romney Marsh 10 to 30 English Leicester .; 3 to 6G Border Leicester 5 to 15 Southdown ; 12 to 15 Shropshires ISV to 25 Corriedales (>" to 35 The most popular breed in the pens was undoubtedly the English Leicesters. For the choicest lots, bidding was keen, and for the top-price ram offered by Mr. C. M. Threlkeld, tho bids went up without effort to 0G guineas. Other successful breeders in this section were Messrs. D. Grant, E. Kelland, J. Sowden, R. H. Rhode-. R. and .1. Reid, and the Canterbury Agricultural College, tho latter getting -10 guineas for a nice ram. The demand for Borders wns very slack, and prices were low. Tho Vgbrook (Blenheim) representatives in the Shropshire section commanded close attention, and were a feature of the pens. The two rams were brought out exceptionally well, and looked first-rate, in spite of the travelling they have had. The top price, 25 guineas, went to a ram that took first prize at Christchurch and first and champion at Masterton. Lincolns nnd Corriednles were rather neglected, and in the latter the Moeraki representatives scored well with prices up to 35 guineas. The top price among a few Romneys went to Mr. D. Grant's ram at 30 guineas.
