His Honour adjourned the further hearing of the, case to Wellington. ,T",° cas3 on t,le lisf wns ono in which a farm labourer named Kvan Jones claimed from John Thomas Bieknell, farmer, of Feathcrston, the sum of .C5Ol, balance, of wages alleged to be duo over a period of nineteen years. Plaintiff aliened that ho went to work for defendant in 181)2 at a urn go of .£lO per year, and found the total sum that ho had drawn in the period in cash and goods was .£i>oß. The defendant alleged that (ho agreement was that the plaintiff was to receive 10s. per week. This was paid in cash and kind for eight years, when plaintiff took to drink, and thn agreement v:as varied so that he should receive 10s. per fortnight with food, clothes, and tobacco.
