TIMBFR-YARD ABLAZE.
FIRE AT AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph-Press Areociation.) Auckland, March 2t. At about six o'clock last evening a firo was discovered in a sawmill of the Parker and Lamb Company at Freeman's May, and soon a great stock of seasoned timber, stacked round it, was in flames. An immense crowd gathered on all the adjacent eminences and watched thu largo stock go to destruction. The efforts of the brigade were concentrated on saving Messrs. Leyland, O'Brien Company's property, streams of water being played on the timber in their yard. Messrs. Leyland and O'Brien's property was saved, but Mr. P. Bryant's cont and firewood yard, including a two story building containing machinery which was next to the burning mill, waa totally destroyed. Messrs. l'avlter mid ]>amb were insured for ,£2OOO in thq Guardian Office, and tlw damage is estimated at about .151100. -Mr. Bryant was insured for J350, and the damage to his property is estimated at ,£SSO.
