DREDGING NELSON HARBOUR.

A MATTER FOR THE HON. J. A. MILLAR'S SUCCESSOR. A deputation from the Nelson Harbour Board waited upon tho retiring Minister for Marino (tho lion. J. A. Millar) on Saturday, to ask that tho Marino Department should carry out somo dredging in Nelson Harbour. Tho Hon. R. M'Kenzie introduced tho deputation. Mr. 11. . At> more, member for Nelson, also attended. Mr. M'Mahon, chairman of the Nelson Harbour Board, produced a plan showing tho extent and nature of the work proposed. Mr. Millar said that he would got a report on the proposal, and fco what could be done He would leave a memorandum for the Department, but whether his successor would carry it out he could not say. The Horn R. M'Kenzie: Mr. Atmore and I will keep an eye on it. In tho course of somo discussion, Mr. Millar stated that tho Government was quite prepared to sell the wharf at its capital value. Ho had (old the Foxton people tho s'amo thing. The localities in question coukl not expect to get the wharves as a gift. Ho was quite prepared to recommend that the dredging suggested should be put in hand. Mr. Millar also promised to go into Hie matter of appointing a stationmastcr at Richmond.
