MISSIONS TO SEAMEN.
On Thursdav night a farewell social was tendered at the Missions to Seamen to Mr T. S. Cuniuiiiigs, lion, assist-nnt-mi'sioncr, on the eve of his deptrvuro for a trip to the Old Country and America. A very large, gathering or workers and friends assembled in his honour. Mr. V S. Shell, niissiouer, occupied the chair. Eulogistic references were miule to (ho splendid work done by Mr. Cnmmmgs for manv vears past for the missions to seamen, 'during the past V2\ years, espeeiallv in filling tho breach caused by Jr. Moore's illness. During the eyeing Mr. fummings presented Mrs. Yulliams. the donor of the Minion building, with an enlarged photo of the workers, to which she Miitablv responded. Tho chairman presented Mr. Cuuimings with a purse of sovereigns, a.nd the recipient feelingly responded. The following ladies contributed musical items—Madame Mueller. Miss Teiz Miss Mueller, and M:?s Cunningham. At the interval light refreshments were' handed round by the ladies.
