Co-operation. (To tlio Poultry Editor.) It was with gi-e.it interest that I read the article in your poultry column hist week, and it will at once be seen by egg circles and poullrymen of this Dominion that the scheme for co-operation is practicable and only requires the energetic efforts of circles and producers individually to join together upon the lines of my article at the Poultry Conference, seeing that it is now an assured success in other countries and can be carried nut to the utmost satisfaction to the producers, retailers, and consumers, for it must bo borne in mind that the. united efforts of a bedy of producers governed by a good board of directors can not only be a success, but the whole of the public will bo more particularly satisfied by receiving value and quality for their nioney. I venture to say that the company of producers would be able to bring the price of eggs wirhiu range of ali classes of the community for purchase by them all tho year round, and make many homes, who, with small incomes, rejoice, for as you all aro aware of the nutritious nourishment to both adults and children. On the other hand the retailers (grocers, etc.) would welcome such a company, for it would relieve them of many ,1 cm-s word spoken lo them over their counter about bid eggs unfit, for use. for limy would be supplied with the genuine article, and would only have to stock a supply for their demands instead of as have been seen in "Wellington, retailers having made eggs a cut line as inducement to work off their over-supply, and yet again it would relievo the retailers' of ledger entries such as he now has and have only one tint o[ the companv who would supply them with the good article instead of us at present all classes, ages, ami quality of eggs, 'i'he producer would be ■ relieved from the worry and anxiety of finding customers and of keeping .-o ninny accounts, more especially the collection of same, for he would then only have, one account and that with the company. -Also he would ly greatly assisted with the purchase of his feed, sale of stock, etc., and by doing this the company would be keeping money in his pocket for ho would have mure timo to devote to his plant and increase his supply. The dividends received by him would greatly enhance his income and (hereby make liim more prosperous than under the present conditions. ;\U these facts tlto producer must bear in mind for, by weighing them carefully in his mind, it would at oiico coine home to him that it would be best paying problem for him lo join with other producers in tho company and by adhering lo the strict quality, weight, and freshness of the eggs the company would grow in great popularity with the retailers and public, for they arc the best judges. The weight, age, and colour also requires great attention, as 1 have before brought under notice and I see that Mr. Brown, the Government poultry expert, gives voice to in several of the newspapers and bears out what 1 have always advocated. This, is another fault that would bo remedied by having one. centre. I have no doubt, that the Government would assist in the exportation scheme if waited upon, and do all in its power to help us to foster an industry that will in tho near fuluro play a prominent part in our Dominion's csport trnde. It only remains for mo now to say that, poultry farmers have the matter entirely, in ttieir own hands, for it is tho only essential thing to do, as for instance, look at tho frozen meat, dairying, and other concerns which found it necessary to combine and are at the present fiiuo large prosperous associations. Tho poultry men will havo to do tho same and thereby attain a. long-felt want. Before concluding lot mo draw your attention In tho last part of your article which asks: Where is tho man to organiso such an association? Let me assure you there aro men in New Zealand and in Wellington well fitted to carry out such a venture, and it only now remains for tho circles and poultry mon to join together and make tho longneeded association a realised fact.—l am, etc.,

JAS. W. FERGUSON. "Sloera" Poultry Farm, Trentham.
