AUSTRALIAN MEAT.
TRADE WITH GERMANY. According to a communicalion received by the I-Vderal Government from the High Commissioner, Sir George Keid. there is a prospect of an ..Australian-German syndicate being formed to promote trade in Australian meat and butter in the leading centres in Germany. Sir George Reid was approached on the subject by llr. Hugh Dahms, formerly of Sydney, but now'α-rrsident in Berlin, and owing to a great measure to this gentleman's intiative Jlr. A. Henoch, Consul-General for Persia in Berlin, and Mr. A.'.Heineker also had an interview' with the Commissioner on tho matter.. Mr. Henoch, has, it appears, a number of refrigerating stores in Germany, and. according to Mr. Dalim.s, he.possesses substantial financial bucking. Sir G'oorgo Beid .slates t lint lie purposes to keep in touch 'with the matter, and he further reported (hut during a recent visit to Switzerland the Swiss Minister for Agriculture had reminded him that tho Sivi«s Customs duty on meat had been reduced, and that Australia .would bo as favourably treated as any other country. Sii- Gem-go Reid speaks in high terms of'the good work , that is being performed in Switzerland by the Australian Trade' Commissioner, Dr. Carroll.
