CATASTROPHES IN AAIERICA. By Telegraph—Press Aseociation-Coiurlght New York, March 20. An underground gas explosion wrecked twenty dwellings in tho Dunmoro mining district, near Scronton, Pennsylvania. Two families wcro blown to pieces or burned to death, and several houses completely destroyed by fire. Seven women and two children aro known to be dead. Earth settlings within the mines are believed to have caused tlf» explosion. SEVENTY-EIGHT LIVES LOST. ENTOMBED AFTER EXPLOSION. New York, March 20. Telephoned reports from Fort Smith, Arkansas, indicate that a great mining' disaster has occurred at the Sanbois Coal Company's mine. At M'Curtain, Oklahoma, a gas explosion occurred, entombing eight men. All aro belioved to bo dead. (Rec. March 22, 0.5 a.m.) Now York, March 21. All hope of rescuing the imprisoned miners at M'Curtain, Oklahoma, lias been abandoned. The latest returns show that 78 men are entombed.
