Within a fortnight the dredge Manchester, which was acquired iu England some years ago by the Lyttelton Harbour Board, will leave Lyttelton for Sydney, havinp been purchased at a prjr/j not stated, by the Sydney Harbour Trust commissioners. The Manchester, although built over 22 years ago by Messrs. Simon and Company, is still a very useful craft, but with the arrival of new plant her owners had no further use for her. It will bo recalled that the Manchester had rather an adventurous voyage from tho United Kingdom to the Dominion, and was just, thirteen months on the trip. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. . Mr. R. Booth, late second engineer of tho Victoria, left the vessel at Sydney this trip, and joined the Banvon as chief engineer. Mr. Soiinerdale, late third engineer of the Victoria, has been promoted to second, and Mr. Ward from fourth to third, while Mr. Williams joined the vessel as fourth engineer. Mr. J. K. M'Arthur. chief engineer of the Wa.naka. is at present in Australia on holiday leave. Captain Holmes has relinijiiislicd command of the Kouiats, and is to take charge nf the Xavua, relieving Captain Mawion, who rejoins the Komata. Captain A. E. THE WRECKED PIFESHIRE. A private message from Pcrim states that everything that was possible to save from the wrecked F.-JI.-S. liner Fifcshire has been secured, and the remains of tho vessel are now lying awaiting to be broken up or otherwise disappear by the action of the sea. The Scales chartered steamer Clan Ogilvy left Auckland for Newcastle early yesterday morning. The vessel's llouie loading has been temporarily postponed, and she brings a. cargo of coal back to Sow Zealand ports on behalf of the Union Company.
