GROCERS' SMOKE CONCERT.
The Wellington Grocers' Union held a smoke ..'oncert in the Tift'm Tea Rooms Inst night, as a social wind-up to the picnic outing. Mr.' W. Wakelin, president, was in the chair, and the concert arrangements were in the hands of Messrs. .1. Kennedy and L. I'ouder, lion, .secretaries. Representatives of the Labour linion and of the Trades Council, and Mr. A. 11. Uindmarsh, M.l\, and other ollicers of the liaboar party were present. The toasts honoured during the evening included: "Parliament" (responded to by Air. Hindniarsk), "The Labour Movement," "Tho Grocers' "Union," "Tho President," and "Tho Prizewinners." During the evening the president presented the cups won at the picnic. Mr. Ford secured the Hunkydory Cup for the grand aggregate of cycling and running. Air. M'Kay won the Daphne Cup for cvcling; Mr. Havdn, tho Maple Leaf Cup for running.; Mr. J. V. Bowling, tho National Cash Register's Rose Bowl, for lOOvds. handicap; and Mr. J. M'Kcowen, tho Sunlight trophy. Musical items were contributed by Messrs. Benttio, Ford, Driscoll, Hnyiln, and n recitation by Mr. M'Kcowen.
