Last night I lie Hastings norouc;li Council appointed to tho position of Electrical Engineer Mr. H. J. M. Kogers, who at present holds a similar position in the Auckland Tramway Company's power house. Mr. is to take charge ot the Hastings electric light and high-pres-sure water scheme. He was selected from GG applicants. At a meeting of the Hastings Poultry Society last night, the resignation of tho secretary, Mr. It. Smith, was received and Mr. B. C. M'Cormick was appointed to fill the position. Tho society finished its present year with, a credit balanco of £3i. , ■■-.-■ A meeting of Liberals is to bo called to-night to consider the present political situation. ' -
