This afternoon the Tyser liner Whakarua if expected to leave Wellington for Sydney. She loads in Australia for Home. The Marine Department have received advice stating that, the Amokura'n departure from the Bluff for the southern islauds has been postponed until to-day. In continuation of her visit of inspection of northern lighthouses, the Government steamer Hinemoa leaves Auckland to-day. Home time to-day the auxiliary scow Echo will leave Karamea, timber-laden for Lyttelton. The Navua left Wellington for-Westport yesterday. She returns here about Friday with a load of coal. The Komata and Koromiko are due from Westport today. To-morrow the Karori is exported to arrive at Wellington from Newcastle, via. New Plymouth.

On account of the Easter holidays the Warrimoo will not leave the Bluff for llobart 1 and Melbourne until Tuesday, April 9. The Tarawcra will pass through Wellington on her way from southern »o northern ports o:i Wednesday, April 3-a day earlier than usual.

In continuation of her journey from (lreymonth to Wellington, the Arahura arrived at We-.-lport at 7 a.m. yesterday. She left for Nelson and Pinton at 8 p.m., and should arrivo in port about 10 p.m. today.

Chronometer Rating Notive.—At 1 p.m. to-day a galvanometer signal for rating chronometers will lie pent from the Observatory to tho Public Telegraph Office and to the Dominion Museum. The needle will move at' 1 p.m. exactly of New Zealand standard mean time, when a chronometer se! to CrcDiiwich mean time should show !S hours odir.in. Any difference wiil be the error of the chronometer on Greenwich mean time.

At 9 p.m. correct lime will also bp pignailed from the Observatory by menus of electric lights. A gm-n light will he switched on at about 8.45 p.m., a red one at about 8.55 p.m., and a white one at about 8.59 p.m., and all lights will be switched ofl" at 9 p.m. exactly of New Ze.'t* land Ktnndnrd mean time. The preparatory switching on of the lights must be considered a? only approximately correct, and must not be used for rating chronometers.
