The Greater Now Plymouth movement wns advanced Knottier stage to-day, when tho poll taken to include the portion ol tho County Council, containing Vogeltown. Frankleigh Park, and Wcstown, resulted iti 135 being in favour and 29 against. A short time ago the Fitzroy town district was merged, and next week a poll will bo taken to include St. Anbyn town district. This will complcto the scheme, and Now Plymouth, which has hitherto been a circumscribed area, will contain a population of over 8000.

FATAL ACCIDENT. Dtinedin, March 19. A fatal accident occurred at Port Chalmers shortly before 1 p.m. to-day, tho victim being Martha Lockhart Mothers, aged . five years. Sho and some other children woro returning to school at tho conclusion of tho dinner hour, whon sho was run over by a spring cart which was proceeding slowly at tho time. The child's skull was fractured at. tho base and ono arm appeared to bo broken. It appears that when the child saw tin horse and cart coming sho retraced bet steps, and ran under the horses feet.
