Mr. H. 11. Tompsett, late manager of the Te Aro House IJrapery Company, Ltd., leaves for London by the lonic on Thursday, in company with Mrs. Tompselt. Mr. Tompsett thinks it most probable that he will return to A'ew Zealand alter a spell at Home.
Mr. 1!. G. Kawnsley. secretary of tho Wellington Trust, Loan, and Investment Company, Ltd., is leaving for England on Thursday next in the H.M.N. lonic on holiday leave, nnd will return in September next.
The Rev. .T. Kennedy Elliott, minister of the Kent Terrace Presbyterian Church, will leave Wellington by the AVainiaim to-morrow week for the Old Country, on a holiday trip. He will b= absent irom Xcw .Zealand for about six months, and during that time the Rev. 11. Begqs, of Auckland, will fill the vacancy. Mr. Elliott will be accompanied by Dr. and Mrs. Elliott. At Godber's ycstoiday, Mr. Elliott was fnrewelled by tho members of the Wellington Presbyiery. The Rev. W. Douglas, Moderator of tho Presbytery, presided, and short addresses were given by the Rev. Jas. Puter=on, the Rev. W. Shim , , and the Rev. A. Thomson. Mr. J. G. W. Aitken also spoke on behalf of the eldership. Mr. E'iiiott responded. The congregation at Kent. Terrace will farewell their departing minister on Friday evening next.
Mr. Andrew Anderson, who has been vice-prssidßiit and treasurer of the Auckland A. and P. He returned to Sydney by the same vessel, luiving t.jki'U the trip, with his daughters, for the sake of an invigorating week on the sea.
The Bishop of Bondigo, Dr. J. D. Langley, and 3lr.=. Langley. who have been iu Now Zealand on holiday, returned to Sydney from Auckland by' tho Moldavia on Friday.
Mr. Charles Wade, head of the firm of Messis. Charles Wade and Co., cloth manui'i'.etiirers, Bradford, England, who is on a tour round the world, arrived in Auckland on Friday by the s.s. Zoalandia. Mr. Wade proposes to make a tour of Now Zealand, and intend* to leave for Vancouver by Ihe ?..-. Maraiua, which sr.ils from Auckland early in April. Mr. Wade is a governor of the Crossley schools, Halifax, and hopes to have.an onp-jrtunity of visiting similar institutions in this country.
Sir John G. Nutting, dcputy-lieuten. ant of Dublin City and County, and chairman of a large maniifacturiu,? firm, left Auckland by the Zealandia on Friday after travelling through the Dominion, accompanied by his youngest <=on, Mr. Konald Xutting. Ho will, travel by way of Fiji, where hn will visit the Governor (Sir Francis H. May), Honolulu, and San Francisco, and while in the Stales will tour the Grand Canyons of Colorado. Sir John was much impressed with the scenic wonders of the Dominion, and while in Wellington he was an interested spectator of the proceedings during the recent session of Parliament.
Mr. \Y. 11. Hcitos, M.P.. arrived from the nort'i yesterday. Accompanied by Mrs. Herriis, he iis to leave Wellington fur I.ondnn by the lonic, on March 21. Mr. Herries expects to return to Xcw Zealand early in July next.
Mr. Douglas Henderson, formerly of the local staff of the. Bank of Xcw South Wales, who has been invilided home from Brisbane after a severe attack of typhoid fever, arrived in Wellington a few days ago.
The death of Mrs. Shaw, widow of the late Mr. James Shaw, ex-Mayor of Adelaide, Soutli Australia, occurred yesterday morning at tho residence of her daughter, Mrs. R. 11. Reane.y, Wanganui (states a Press Association telegram).
• Mr. H. P. Stark, manager of the Bank of New South Wales at Greymouth for fifteen years, has been promoted to the charge of tho Sydney office, and left last night by tho Arahura. He was presented by tho citizens with a handsome gold watch as a souvenir.
Mr. John Farrell, who will pilot J. C. Williamson's "Everywoman" Company through New Zealand, left yesterday for Auckland, where the company, headed by Miss Hilda Spong, commences its (our n't Easter.
