(Bi Tredxe CmfJ Quintan Grand Opera; Music-lovers must iiot lose sight of th« Quir.lan Opera Company (says tue "Sydney Morning. Herald"), because, apart' iroin tho intrinsic beauty, of tho works to.be presented, four or live of the artists are absolutely at tho top of vim ixeo amongst English singers. In "The. Valkyrie," ior ojiimple, tno Wotan is Clarence Yv'hitchill, a quite famous singer; tho Brimluldo is Agues Nichulls, I'inglnnd's loremost oratorio soprano, who subsequently won acceptance nt Covent Garden; the Siejfmuna, Mr. John Harrison; tho Sieg. linuo, Miss Vera Courtenuy, from tlio Paiia Opera Comiquo, and Metropolitan Opera house, Now York; Mr. Allan Hmckley, who has mado a reputation at German opera houses, the Huading; aud Miss Edna Thornton, an English concert, and opera singer, the Fricka. Tho part of Wotan is alternated by Mr. liooei't Parker, and here, again, tho new company will bring us an artist whose n.iiuo is quite unknown in Australia, yet he has done well both at Vienna and Cologne. There is, of course, another case, so' that in "Tho Girl from the Golden \\'.\A," which Mr. Cuihbcrt Hawley (-Munich) conducted at the Liverpool rciioarsals, with Siguor Puccini himself fis.rtiivisor, tho part of Minnie falls to M'llo. Jeanne. Brola, a dramatic soprano, i'lio. has appeared at La Scttla, and tho.'part rf Johnson, tho road agent, to Jehu Coates, an English tenor equally at .home in opera and in oratorio. Mr. Tullio Voghera, of tho Royal Opera, Stockholm, and Mr. Hubert Bath, an Englvsh musician, also conduct this work. • In "Tanuluiusor" Miss Bctlina Freeman, of liio Boston Opera, is the prima donna; and Misa Julia Caroli (of this city) is tho Micaela to tho Carmen of Muriel Terry, an English singer from the German opera houses. All these operas, as well as "Tristan and Isolde," Offenbach's "Tales Df Hoffman," and Debussy's "L'Eufant Prodiguo," are likely to be pcrfornuxl in Sydnoy, whore the fivo weeks' srason opens, after the middlo of the year. .1. C. Williamson, Ltd.,. now quote Melbourno for tho debut of tho company in Juno.
