A LAMP WANTED.
Sir,—l wish to bring under the notiei of the City Council, through the mediun of your columns, the necessity Hint exist for a light or lights at the Queen's Statue Cambridge Terrace. At the Kent Tci race and Cambridge Terrace side of th statue a gateway, or passage, is left opci for (he convenience of the public, win wi«h: to get from one terrace to the other but 'aitcr nightfall, and, indeed,' in th dnv time, this gateway, or passage, is no easily seen or recognisable, and oil a darl night it is a matter of difficulty to mat one's wav through. I would therefor rcspuctfiiiv suggest to the council to erec an arc lamp in the centre of the reserv near the statue, or a light at each gate H-av'or passage. This would not only b a great convenience to tho public, bu would also obviate a danger to pedestrian eres?in<* the tramline from tho reserve t Kent Terrace. Such a light would afs> be desirable at the line statue of an illus triqus Queen-1 am, etc., cmzEX _ Wellington, March 13.
