1> lIUTT PARK COMMITTEE. (From Our SDecial Correspondent.). A meeting of the Unit Park Committee ivas held mi Wednesday evening, and was itlendid by Messrs. Baldwin (cliainiuin), >.acaskill, \Burridge, M'Ewan, Broeklejuiik, ami Organ. A deputation from tlie Hutt \ alloy ['rolling Club waited upon the. conimitxv fur tlio purpose of considering theproposed trotting track on the pari;. .Mr. li. W. Short, on behalf 01 the deputation, handed in a plan of the track. He said that it was unfortunate that the plan could not have been handed in -ooner. if the committee were agreeable tenders would be called for the work us soon as the agreement. With one or two suggestions the 1 rotling Club were unanimous in accepting Hie committee's terms, viz.—The park to bo leased for a period of three years at a rental of JioO per year for oneday's racing, £10 for two days, or, for a further period, .£4O for one day and .£SO for two (lavs; the club to do all repairs. Mr. Short, continuing, said that it was suggested that (he old' track should bo linked with the new one for training purposes, the present fences removed to the new track, and (lie spoil removed from the centre of the track. Mr. Organ questioned the right of tenure to the Trotting Club. He said that if an agreement was come to, it was undoubtedly a lease and not in compliance with Die Act. He suggested that all grounds should bo let by tender so as to come under the Public Parks and Do-, mains Act, 1911. It would greatly benefit all parties. The chairman said that Mr. Orpin's suggestion was ono for the Trotting Club. Mr. K. C. Kirk headed a deputation from the Waiwetti Golf Club, with a new to requesting the committee to reconsider its decision in regard to absorbing the links on the park ill the hockey and Association grounds. The speaktr said that theirs was a struggling club, and needed encouragement. The Golf Club w.'ts prepared tu increase the rental (o ,£.' 10. If any arrangement; were arrived at with the Trotting Chit it would not interfere with golf. The chairman pointed out that it iyai a question of hockev grounds and golf, Mr. Hondcock (one of the deputation, suggested that if tlio ground were .avail aide it would be possible to cater foi hockey and golf. In answer to a question, Mr. Kirk saii: his club would be prepared to assist n: the construction of new greens. The Wellington Hockey Associatioi made application for ten playing ground: at a rental of .£3 per ground per year with an additional ss. per ground for su months of the year fcr upkeep. The association further asked for i security of tenure. Mr. Baldwin said it appeared to Jiin that one of the applicants would havi to be refused. Mr. Broekiebank was of (he opinioi that the Hockey Association's offer wa: too good to turn down. Mr. Macaskill could see nothing dcii nite from the association—there was froir the Golf Club. Mr. M'Bwan said that the imnrovemeni scheme should be gene on with, botl borough engineers wore agreeable. HUTT o RIVEE BQARD. r The ordinary -monthly meeting of tin Hutt River Board was held last oven ing. Present: Messrs. Baldwin (chair man), Knight, and AVelch. The overseer reported on the pro gress of groynes 'at differoht places u the" river banks. The fresh in the rive: on February 15 had caused a menacini sot towards the bank at Mason's Gat dens, necessitating the construction o several boulder silts. The introduction, of the Loca Government Bill to the House was als considered as a reason for shelving th proposal. The report was adopted. It was resolved to communicate -will other River Boards inviting; their co operation in objecting to the provision contained in the Local Government Bill HUTT LICENSING COMMITTEE. With the ad dition of Mr. Welch, the old commute has been relumed. THE PETONE MAYORALTY. Mr. J. Piper, who lias been a residen of Petone for 21 years, and who wa elected senior councillor of the last elei Hon, has definitely decided to conies the Petone Mayoralty at the election i \pril next. Mr. Piper will address th electors at an early date. Mr. M'Ewan, (he profient Mayor o Petone, has not. yet decided whether h will seek re-election or not.
