ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
TRAMWAY FATALITY: INQUEST OPENED. The Coroner's inquiry concerning tin death of the woman Clara Florence O'Connor (not M'Donald, as previously reported), who was recently injured in i tramway accident in Featnerston Street, on Thursday last, was opened yesterday afternoon, before Dr. A. W. M'Arthur, S.M. The only evidence given was that ol Margaret Bryant, of Christchurch, wh( state<l that she had seen the body am had recognised it as that of her sisterClara Florence. O'Connor. Deceased wa; fifty-two\ years of age, ■ anil a. widow The inquest was then adjourned tili 10.30 a.m. on Saturday. A WHARF ACCIDENT. A married man named Charles Tisdale a resident of 26 Holloway Koad, met witl an accident on the wharf yesterday. Hi was "running a plank," tipping coal fron one of the steamers into a dray, when b.\ sorao means he was knocked oft' the plan! into the dray. He was rendered uncon scions, and his removal to the hospita was deemed necessary. Last night it was reported that he hni regained consciousness and was doing .well. BODY IN THE HARBOUR. Yesterday the body of Henry Wilkin son was found in the harbour near tin King's Wharf. Wilkinson had boarded ii Sydney Street until lately, but on Tuesdai night the house he was ascustomed to sta\ at was full, and he could not get adiuis* sion. However, he was given Is. Gd. t< get a bed elsewhere. He was last scei alive by Sergeant Harvey, at about 1 o'clock on Tuesday night. He was thei going in the direction of the King': Wharf. Deceased was employed by tin Blackball Coal Company until about tw< years ago, when he met with an accident. An inquest will be held at the uiorgui at. 130 p.m. to-dny. TRAM CONDUCTOR INJURED. Tram Conductor Gates, of Clyde Street Island Bay, was injured yesterrla; through being knocked down by a motor car. Gates was getting off a. car at th< corner of Cuba and Manners Streets whei a motor-car struck him and threw him t< the ground, ile received injuries to hi head and face, and when they had beei attended to he was removed to his home.
