After a, passage of 83 hours th; Patea Shipping Company's new steamer Haw-era, arrived at Wellington from Auckland at 11 p.m. yesterday. Captain Jackson (late Kapuni), who is in command, reports that he left tho northern port at noon on Saturday last, and experienced fine weather until 3 p.m. Sunday, thence hard westerly gales, accompanied by heavy rain, until arrival. A description of the Hawera has already been published, hut it might be stated that she is practically a sist.ir ship to the same company's Kaptuni. On her trials, the Hawera maintained a speed of 10 knots an hour. Mr. M'Conville, late of the Hanuni, is engineer of the Hiwcra. SUSSEX AT AUCKLAND. An arrival at Auckland from Liverpool, via way ports, at '4.30 p.m. yesterday, was the F.-il.-S. steamer Sussex. It is expected that the vessel will continue her journey to Wellington on Saturday, and should arrivs here on Monday, March 18. STAR OF,CANADA AT LONDON. Messrs. Bannatyne and Co., local agents for the Tyser Line, have been advised that the Star of Canada arrived at London from Wellington on Sunday, March 10, after a passage of 40 days. She left this port on January 31. INDBABAP.AH AT MELBOURNE. Cable advices to hand announce the arrival at Melbourne of the Tyser liner Indrabarah. The vessel, which is en route from London, is due at Wellington on April 8. WAKANUI'S MOVEMENTS. Advice received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the steamer Wakanui arrived at Melbourne from St. John (New Brunswick) on March 8. She is due at Wellington on or about March 29.

COMPANY REORGANISING. II is announced Hint the I'ntea Shipping Company, which has recently been reorganised, will lv." known as the youth Tarnnaki Shipping Company in future. Mr. W. Ibnnett, of Paten, will take over ihe management of the new company from tho beginning of next month. The steamers llawcrn, Kapuni, Kiripaka, and Mann will maintain the Wcllington-Patoa service, and in the meantime the Kapiti and Arapawii, which an-.' owned bv Mr. .lames 11. In the third-class there are 43 passengers. Another sailer has lisen "resting" at Lyttelton on account of the scarcity of seamen at that port. This is the brigantine Aratapu. After two weeks' delay she set sail for Kaipara on Sunday. Arahura, s.s., arrived at Westport from Groyinouth at 8 a.m. yesterday, and continued her journey to Wellington, via Nelson nnd Picton, «t 3 p.m. She is due in port about 9.30 p.m. to-day. The Union Company's steamer Navua left Westport, coal-laden, for Wellington yesterday. On her Saturday trip from Nelson, tho Pateena will come, direct to Wellington, Tlo Mapourika will call at Picton in her stead. Having to blow down her boilers the steamship Rarawa will not leave One'iunga on Thursday, March 21, for New Plymouth, There will consequently be no boat from New Plymouth for Onehuuga, on March 22. The liarawa picks up her schedule running on Sunday. March 24. The A. and A. Lii\;'s chartered steamer Kirkdaln is expected to clear Wellington for southern ports to-morrow. Whilst on the passage from St. John to Australia and New Zealand ports the steamer Waiwern spoke the American whaling barque Charles E. Morgan on January 30, just before reaching Melbourne. The barque was then in latitude 45 degrees south, longitude 53 degrees east, and was cruising about on the look-out far whales. About the end of this week. 11.M.5. lonic will leave Gisborne for Wellington. Horn? loading will be completed at this port, and departure taken for London on March 21. Tho friends of Mr. .1. R.
