ST. PATRICK'S DAY.

Tho Irish national festival of St. Patrick's Day will be celebrated l in Wellington. As the day falls on a Sunday this yearthe festival will take place ni Newtown Park next Saturday. Besides the attraction of the Zoo, sports ''or young and old will be held. A special attraction of the programme will bo the children's events. Some 300 boys' entries and 250 girls' entries have been received. A special prize of a silver cup will go to the winner of the boys' half-mile run, and u banner donated by Mrs. T. G. Mucnrthy to the girls' drill competitions*. In tho boys' walk there aro no fewer than 05 entres. There will bo a procession in the morning of sonic 10(1 cadets, as well as the local Hibernians, together with two bands. Irish jigs and wrestling also appear on the programme, and what promises to Iw the most interesting event— the tug-of-war. Attractive prizes will be awarded the winner*. As is customary, the celebrations will conclude with the national concert in the Town Hall (large) on Monday evening, March 18. The Mar'ist Brothers'/ pupils will render two choruses, one being "Kathleen Mavonrseen," snug in four parts. Mr. Farquhar Young, the noted Irish singer 'from Christcliurch, and Miss Adelaide Bruce, from Sydney, will also appear. Mi.-s Bruce was engaged as soloist in "The Messiah" at. the opening of the Town Hall.
