KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL.

At n meeting of tho Knrori Borough Council held last evening, the Mayor (Mr. Cathie) was in tho chair, and Ihe following wero present:—Councillors Burn, Brndnock, Hamilton, Ilildre.th, >,'inimo, Standen, Frost, Anderson, and Horn. The question of taking over the streets of the Evelyn Estate was left over until certain requirements by tho Borough Engineer aro complied with. It was decided to instal electric light at tho Knrori tea-rooms, at a cost of about .£5. A negativo answer having been received to a question as to whether Councillor Ninnno had paid tho ten shillings fee due under tho buildings by-law, Councillor Anderson moved: "That proceedings bo taken to force Councillor Ninimo to pay." Councillor Bradnock seconded this motion. Councillor Hamilton thought that, as a permit had actually been issued, tho council could not enforeo payment by law. After a short discussion by councillors (one of whom did not think" it profitnblo to pay a lawyer at least 7s. fid. to find oul if they could claim 10s.) an amendment was carried to the effect that tho council's solicitors ho consulted before taking proceedings.
