REPORTER "SAVES SITUATION." (By Telcerapa-Fross Association.) Invcrcargill, March 12. Although tho Bluff Waterside Workers' Union obtained a new award as late as last December there still seems to bo considerable satisfaction existing among tho men with regard to wages and conditions. A fresh demand has been framed and presented to the employers. This afternoon representatives of the union and employers met in conference at, the Trades Hall to discuss tho situation. The union delegates wished propeedings to be fully reported, and asked ihat tho press be permitted to remain. This course was strenuously opposed by :wo members, on tho ground that it was a private conference, and that it would not be politic to publish details of such a conference. A deadlock was then threatened, but tho reporter saved the situation by retiring.
