I Tho "Daily Chronicle" congratulates the Pacific Cable Board on its expeditious and excellent transmission of tho "ablegram, filling a pago of the newspaper, giving 'Captain "Amundsen's >story. ' Mr. W. T. Stead, editor of the "Review of Reviews," congratulates tho "Daily Chronicle'.' ou demolishing Dr. Cook's claim to being the discoverer of tliD Kortli Pole, and establishing that of Captain Amundsen in regard (o the South Pole. Sir Ernest Shackletoii, in an article published in the press, says that Captain Amundsen undoubtedly reached the geographical Pole, after easy travelling in fine weather. He adds that the plateau christened King Ilnukon Plateau is the same as that which he (Sir E. Shackleton)' named Edward the Seventh. MR, FISHER'S CONGRATULATIONS. > (Rec. March 12, 0.45 a.m.) Melbourne, March 11. The Prime Minister, Mr. Fisher, ha? cabled to Captain Animidsen, and congratulates him heartily on the success of his expedition and its safo return. Mr. Fisher eays ho hopes to Beo Captain Amundsen on his visit to Melbourne.
