Late last night, Captain Amundsen consent ed tii be interviewed. lie. declared that ho had not much to add to the cablegram from 1/ondmi. His misc. was'loo miles from Captain Scott's, and he did not know when Scott mnde his dash for the Pole. Captain Amundsen said he camped nearer the Pole than Captain Scott did. The latter preferred dry land for travel; Amundsen elected to make his way over the barrier. ITo sincerely hoped" that Captain Scolt had reached the Pole. He might havo done so before him (C'nplain Amundsen), since it was his second attempt. Captain Amundsen added that he had received hundreds of congratulatory messages, including one from King George.
