LICENSING ELECTIONS.
SUBURBS AND HUTT DISTRICTS. Polling for the, elections of committees to control tho respective licensing districts of Wellington Suburbs end Unit will take place to-day. No election is necessary for the Wellington licensing district, as the number of nominations received does not exceed the number of momlrers required. The Wellington Committee will therefore consist of Messrs. W. .1. llolyrr, G. .1. Potherick, J. Smith, 0.• -Tiller, and (1. W. Wilton. ino nominations for the Wellington Suburbs district are-.-Messrs. W. Galloway, P. T. Moore, T. H. Eastwood, G. Mevens, C. Cathie, 11. N. M'Leod, J. Keith, W. Cook, and ],ily 11. Atkinson. .Messrs. ,1. Cudby, 11. W. Welch, O. Stevens, It. W. Short, J. Cotton, 11. K. Kyder, T. Waugh, and ,T. W. M'Kwan have been nominated for the llutt licensing district. All electors on the Parliamentary roll arc entitled to vote. In connection with the election of the Suburbs Committee, it is interesting to note that this district is a No-License area, but, when the electoral boundaries were adjusted last year tiiH Porirua and Pahnntanui Hotels were brought within the district, and their licenses expire on June :iO next. These licenses, it is pointed out, cannot be retained without special legislation by Parliament. An effort is to be made'to attain this end, it is slated. The member for tho Suburbs (Mr. W. 11. D. Bell) raised tho question last session, mid was informed by Sir Joseph Ward that Parliament would be aMo to review the cafe before the expiry of the licenses on June 30.
