THE WEATHER.
1 SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for south-easterly breezas, veering easterly northward of New Plymouth and Napier and variables ' winds, changing to increasing northerlies, elsewhere. Changeable, 1 fair-to-cloudy weather probable generally with a falling barometer everywhere shortly. The barometer rose fast in tlio south on Saturday and Sunday, and westerly winds veered to strong southerlies, with rain and colder weather generally. Thunderstorms , occurred along the East Coast on Sunday morning, but in general fair weather is reported to-day. ' D. 0. BATES. Meteorological Office, ■Wellington, March 11. 1912. DISTRICT REPORTS. Shannon, March U.—Sunday night was keenly cold. Monday .was..fine. and. warm. Otaki, March 11.—Fine, cold morning. The rainfall for the last 24 hours up to 9 a.m. was .02in. Carterton, March 11.—Fino weather prevails to-day after a refreshing rain yesterday. Featherston, March 11.—Fine day; passing clouds; cold southerly wind. Hastings, March 11.—To-day has besn fine, and the weather seems settled.
