GENERAL COMMITTEE. The monthly -meeting of the General Committee of the 'Masterton A. and I'. Association was held on Saturday last, there being present: Messrs. H. Morrison (president), C. F. Vallancc, G. Shaw, B. Rayner, J. F. Heckler, G. E. Allen, It. Grav, J. M. .fames, A. .1. Percy, W. Cooper, J. C. M'ivillop, H. J. Dagg, R. .1. Da™, E. Harper, G. C. Sumnierell, AY. J. Welch, ]). Cnselberg, and \V. H. lluick. A communication was received from the Government Fields Instructor (Mr. G. de Jlayliss) suggesting, the experiments which should be conducted during tho coining season. The matter was referred to the Agricultural Committee. Mr. E. Hall, secretary of the New Zealand Agricultural Conference, forwarded a revised list of judges for show purposes, and asked for early recommendations regarding additional judges.—On the motion of the president, the matter was referred to a sub-committee, consisting of: Messrs. C. F. Vallance. R. J. Dags. W. Perry, R. Gray, \V. D. Watson,..!. Strang, and A. Donald. A letter was read from Mr. Evans, shepherd for Mr. It. D. Vavasour, of Marlborough, congratulating the association upon the excellent arrangements made for handling his show sheep.—Received. A question of the hiring of loose-boxes for an exhibitor was referred to the finance Committee. The New Zealand Accident Insurance Company notified that an increase of oneeighth was being made in insurance premiums, owing to the extended liability under the new Act.—On the motion of Mr. Summcrell, it was'decided to pay the increased premium. Mr. "W. B. Matheson, of Eketahuna, wrote suggesting that, with a view to liquidating the liability on the new. shoiv grounds, each member should make a contribution on a pro rata basis, according to tho area of his property. Mr. Matheson enclosed a subscription of XI is. Cd. Tho president did not think' that the proposal was a practicable one.—lt was decided to thank Mr. Matheson for his contribution, and to acknowledge receipt of his suggestion. Severnl resignations were received, and six new members were elected. Ground Committee. The report of the Ground Committee a was read and adopted. It was decided r| to draw the attention of tho General Committee to the fact that there was at SI present no rule prohibiting jumping on % the mornings of the shows. A general & opinion was 'expressed by members that I a sub-committee, from each show section, 5 should be appointed to draft suggestions 55 for the conduct of the show and tho re- | vision of the schedule, while the affairs i of the past show are fresh in the minds | of stewards; also, that marshal stewards i be asked to report on the best show in | their particular sections, and make reft commendations. S Finance Committee. S The Finance Committee's report was I read. This showed receipts for the fi month amounting to-61253 ss. Id., and an ft expenditure of JG4SS 15s. 7d. Tho debit | balance af'the bank at date was ,£290 S 12s. 4d. The secretary submitted a stateK ment of show accounts. - This showed reg ceipts amounting to -E1854 os. 9d., and an expenditure of JCI7I is. lid., leaving - a balance to credit of .£139 ss. lOd. The ram fair account showed receipts amounting to J207 is., and an expenditure of £93 15s. sd„ leaving a credit of .£ll3 Ss. 7d. The luncheon account showed receipts totalling £369 75., and expenditure amounting ot .£363 is. Gd., leaving a credit of £6 2s. (id.
