AN UNUSUAL CASE. Br T«lesraph—Prew Association—Cloßyrlgil (Roc. March 11, (WO a.m.) London, March. 10. Tho jury have awarded the Itomnn Catholic Bishop of Cloyno JC2OO sterling, as damages in tho libel action brought by him against tho "Dundeo Courier," aud tho Bix priests JKiO each, Tho action was brought in (h« Court of Session, Edinburgh, by tho Most ltov. Dr. Browne, Roman Catholic Bishop of Cloyno, Ireland, and six priests, now, or formerly, of Quconslown, against Messrs. D. C. Thomson and Co., Limited, proprietors of tho "Dundee Courier." The Bishop claimed X2OOO damages, and tho others .£SOO each. Tho alleged lil>el waa contained in an anonymous orticlo published in tho "Dundee Courier" in August last, slating that two years ago in Qncenstown instructions wore issued by tho Roman Catholic religious authorities that all Protestant shop assistants wcr» to 1)0 discharged. The plaintiffs say they were tho sole, persons who exercised religious authority on behalf of tho Roman Catholic Church in Quecnstown in 15109, and that tho statements in tho article and tho imputations conveyed were fake, and constituted a gross libel upon them.
