CARTERTON. The following team has been chosen to represent the Carterton Fire Brigade at the demonstration of the United Fire Brigades' Association at Dannovirko on Easter Saturday and Mondavi—P. Jackson, It. Canton, M'Keuzio (2), and D. Byrne. J\lr. D. G. Sustins, who has been appointed postmaster at Carterton, was entortained at a social gathering at Cheviot, Canterbury, last week, and presented with a purse of fifty sovereigns. Mrs. Sustins was also tho recipient of a gold necklace. FEATHERSTON. At the last meeting of tho Featherston County Council, held on Friday, it was decided to increaso the wages Df casual labourers in the council's employment to 9s. per day. Outstanding rales were reported to be ,£9l 17s. 9a,, out of a collectable rate of J15919 17s. Id. On the motion of Councillor Alfred Matthews, it was resolved that Part II of the Motor Regulation Act, 1908, be brought into operation within the countv. This will enable owners of motor vehicles to register them in this county instead of having to do so in Mastciton or Wellington, as hitherto. GREYTOWN. The Mount Iloclor Tourist's Track Committee have work well in hand now. About one mile and a half more arc required to complete the track lo Mount Alpha. The major portion is made wide enough for a horse track. The rest will be widened as funds permit. & number of members of the committee and visUorn wont up the track on Saturday, and a wcond contingent on Swiday. :
