Morelnnd was born at Belfast, Ireland, on January 31, 1867, and was educated at Clifton College, England, and Lincoln College, Oxford; iirst-class classical moderations Oxford, ISSS; second-class litterac humaniores, Oxford, 1890; scholar and exhibitioner, Lincoln College, Oxford, 18S6-90; Captain of Lincoln College Rugby fifteen in 188990; studied in Germany IS9O-91; assistantmaster King Edward VI School, Norwich, 1891-1903; headmaster of Christ's College, Christchurch, 1904; ordained by Bishop of Norwich, 1894.1

ME.-WILLIAM MOXHAM. Mr. William Moxham, formerly tho owner of tho Upland Estate, now known as Kelburne, passed away at ins residence, Macdonald Crescent, yesterday, in his ninetieth vear. For sonic years past tho Into Mr. Moxham's health had been fni - ins, and his death was not unexpected. Mr. Moxham was one of tho oldest residents of the city. He was born in London in 1523. His father died when he was eleven vears of age, and the young lad was compelled to go to work. Subsequently, however, he had two and a half years schooling at tho Tower Hamlets Ireo School, after which he. served his timo as a mechanical engineer. Mr. Moxham married in 1543, and took over the management of a sawmill in Stratford, Lssex. Eventually he decided to come out to NewZealand, and landed in Wellington in 1858 by tho ship Montmorency, together with liis wife and family. The outlook was gloomy, very little work being obtainable, but tho new arrival decided to settle down and make the best of tho position. He secured work from tho Government at road and drain-making, and fought his way along in this position. An opportunity of entering the Business lie had learned at Homo offered, but Mr. Moxham could not avail himself of this owing to an affection of the eyes, which handicapped liim throughout his life. About 1800 Mr. Moxham started in tho dairying business, having some time previously leased a few acres of the cuuqtiouarreservc, now the site of the Botanical Gardens. Ho acquired tho Upland farm—ll3 acres—and at a later period secured another farm at North Makara. tor many vears he carried on a. very extensive dairy "business with tho assistance of his sons. This business, together with the farm, was sold early in ISM when Mr. Moxham retired. Since the Upland farm was sold it has become the thickly-popu-lated suburb of Kelburne. 'Ihc deceased was a member of tho Weslcyan Church, and was choirmaster at the time tho first organ was placed in the church. Mr. Moxham was at one time or other prominently associated with every department of church work, as superintendent of tho Sunday School, church trustee, and in various other responsible positions. Ho was one of the first representatives to tho New Zealand Conference, and was re-elect-ed to that body for several years in succession, no also filled the office of New Zealand representative at many of tho ccneral conferences of tho Australasian Weslcyan Church. Mr. Moxham will long bo remembered as one who spared no pains to build the Church up during its earlv struggles in New Zealand. Tlie late Mr. Moxham leaves four sons and three daughters.
