The Victoria Kncing Club's autumn carnival was concluded yesterday at Flemington. Rain foil steadily from early morning, but cleared oft at noon, and a big crowd attended. The programme contained an extra item that attracted considerable attention. Mr. E. E. D. Clarke and Mr It-. M. Hawker desired that the merits of Wolawa and Tadauga should ho decided by a match over a straight six furlongs, for .fiaOO a-side, the club allowin" the match to take place after the second race. Walawa, Bst. 131b., beat 'lndanga, Bst. 71b., by live lengths in the ■Vlma Stakes at Cauliield, and by half a neck in the Ascot Vale Stakes, the weights being Bst. 101b. and Bst. 31b. Again ho beat her bv a short neck for second in the Sires' Produce, Bst. 101b. against Bst. 71b To-day the weights were—Wolowa, Bst. 51b., and Tadanga Bst. 21b. Tho Governors attended, and displayed great interest in the match, the result of which appears below. Tho following are details ot the racing:— ELMS HANDICAP, of 300 sovs. Seven furlongs. Brennnn's Hallowmas, 6st. 71b. 3 Also started: Eyeglass, Kurnell, Flavian and Plavel. Eveglass led ont of the straight, but Flavian then went to the front and led from Eveglass, Flavel, Kurnell, Flaith, Hallowmas, and .Matouree. The order was unchanged to the turn, where Flavian took command from Flavel and Flaith, with tho field bunched. Flavel led at the distance from Matouree and Flavian.
