SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications arc for westerly gales prevailing, and with a southerly tendency. Bhowcry and changeable yieather, and probably colder. The barometer is unsteady, but is due to rise everywhere Boon. Heavy seas may be expected on all the western coast. Wostcrly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed, with a very low and unsteady barometer in the south. Pressure has increased in the north, and the weather has been very capricious—fine in parts, but generally boisterous and changeable. D. 0. BATES. Meteorological Office, Wellington, March 8, 1912.
