on, and bent Sylvia May for second place. Stellaris wns fourth. The Autumn Handicap was an even belting race, and provided a good contc>l. Coromandel, who was a fresh horse, earned most umnev, followed by Mi-eai and Cork. Vi took up the running 111 the start, and led past the stand, followed by Kauroa, with Cork whipping the field. Ilowu the back, Coroniamlel moved up, but, at. the half-mile, he got into trouble, and fell back. Miseal now came fast on tho outside, and took charge. Ho led into the straight, followed by Gulden Loop. The latter stuck well to his work, and beat Miseal by a neck. Coromandel finished well under the big weight, and got third place, a bead in front of Cork. Loch Malien, who carried lllb. overweight, was a poor last. Parktide finished up favourite in the Telephone Hack Handicap, and it was freely whispered on the course that she only had to leave the mark to win. It transpired that she was unlucky yesterday, and « strong order was made of her ■ to-day. .Miss Augusta raced her oft the mark. but Parktide was second wh|.„ they had gone a furlpii*, with Lnilino at the bead of the others, llm favourite got through on (he fencj at the turn, whero Ladiim ran wide. Septimus came fast in the straight, bill could not reach Parktide, who won comfortably. Obligant should have won the Juvenile Handicap by a chain had it not been for a chapter of ill-luck. At the barrier rise King's Favourite went out with a *ood lend, followed by Eviidne, and the favourite anil the remainder strung out. Entering the straight Evndiie rail wide, and interfered with Obligant, and, lialf-wav down the straight, King's Favourite also carried'fho bay colt out so much (lint, he nearly hit the outside fence. When he got going again, Master Kilcheran, who had come round on the fence, had a good lead, and be won by a couple of lengths. Taking all thing.-, into consideration, backers of the favourite were unlucky. The rain was pouring down when the horses went out for the Maiigalera Hack race. Mallow, on the fence, was the quickest to begin, but he was soon, headed by Easy, who, at the end of a furlong, gave way to Florence Nightingale. Tho latter had a big break across the bottom bend, where Mntlow was being hustled along to reduce the gap. A good finish up "the straight saw the favourite prevail by a length. Kingswell was a poor third, anil the others, who were strung out, were led by Availnce. The course was getting very heavy by the time that the Kuitoke Welter 'was decided, and a bowling gale was blowing against the horses as they raced up the straight. The scratching pen was freely used. 'From a good dispatch Seatondal'e was quickest to find his legs, but, at the end of two furlongs, St. Touey had taken charge, and Thetis also moved up. St. Toncy led into the straight, whero Seatondale fell back. C'ullinan came fast on the outside, and, quickly disposing of 1 St. Toney, ran in a. comfortable winner. San Pluie headed St. Toney a few vards off tho post. Fashion Plate was-favourite in the(concluding event. The Feilding horse hod bad luck at. the barrier, and his chances were ruined through being left. Lord Renown, Queen o' Scots, and Happy A 7 ew Year were the first off, but, down the hack, Kuvnpotnngi got a break on (he field. Across the bottom several of the runners moved up, but Lord Renown was first into the straight, and, stalling off a challenge by Queen 0' Scots, ho won easily. ACCIDENT AT TE AROHA RACES., TWO JOCKEYS INJURED. (Bj ToleeraMi-Prois Asssciitflon.) Auckland, March 7. . At the Tc Aroha races to-day, Cuckoo slipped and fell, bringing down Master Lane. The former's jockey (M'Flyim) sustained serious injury to his back," and Master Lane's rider (Sccats) had both collarbones broken.
