THE HUTT BRIDGE DISPUTE.
A MODUS VIVENDI. Ever since it was constructed, man* months ago, the Hutt Pipe Bridge hat been useless, so far as foot-passengers are concerned, owing to the absence of approaches. There seems now a prospect that the dilliculties between the City Council and the Pelono borough Coun-. oil which delayed the construction of the approaches may be settled at an early date. Tho former body last evening adopted the following clause, .submitted by its Finance Committee:--"That they have considered a letter received from the solicitor to the Fctone Borough Council, ottering' terms of settlement in connection with the difficulties thai have arisen with regard to the completion of the Hull: and Waiwetu Bridges. Although by this settlement Potonc will be freed from paying JJ2OO, which tho committee consider they ought to pay, tho committee think that the council should agreo to the settlement proposed, on condition that the draft warrant is immediately settled by the Petone Borough solicitor, and « consent in writing is given bv him to agree to an application for warrant in terms of such draft at (he first available, opportunity."
