The pleasant racing weather drew a big crowd to the second day of the Victorian Eacing Club's autumn meeting. A good lain fell during the night, but cleared up in-tho morning, and gave placo to n cool brcczo with sunshine. Merriwooln led from start to finish, and won by a length, tho t-auit: distance separating second and third horses. Time, Sniin, 03Jsee. . ASCOT VALE STAKES, of 1000 sots. Six furlongs.—Wolawa, 1; Tndanga, 2; Sheriff Muir, 3. Other starters were-, tlold Brew, Charlatan, Bnrrnwang, KwaBind, and Blairniount. Crossing the tan, Blainnouiit took control from Tndanga. In'the centre of the course Wolawa wan prominent outside. He took command at tho distance, and won cleverly by a neck, three-quarters of a length separating the second and third horses. Indiscreet increased Iris lead-to eight lengths, and Flavian ran up to second plnce. Indiscreet further increased his lead to ten lengths when Prizefighter, at the' back of the course, pursued him and took command at the half-mile post, the next being Obi, Flavian, and Eyeglass. Prizefighter led into the straight from Flavian. Jncamar, and Obi. Saxonite put in a strong run in the 'centre, and Eyeglass on tho rails also' challenged. After n most exciting finish Saxonite succeeded in deadheating with Prizefighter, Flavian being half a length away third, and then came Eyeglass, .lacunar, , and Cadonia. Time. 3min. oTjsec. The dead-heaters divided the stake.
