£500,000 "MET." EXTENSIONS.
It is understood that tho Metropolitan Railway Company is promoting n Bill in the ensuing; session, of Parliament to onable it to carry out a number cf extensions and improvements on the system, including tho construction of two and ft linlf miles of new lino and the widening of the existing , track for a length nf about three and a half miles. The estimated cost of these developments is over half a million. Tho most important feature of tho proposals is tho laying of a branch from the main lino in the neighbourhood of Rickinansworth to (ho town of Watford. There aro great possibilities of Watford becoming in the near future a populous residential area aG wdl'as a flourishing business centre. There is every prospect of an outer ■suburb- of London being developed thero within a comparatively short time—"Standard of Empire."
