MASTERTON A. & P. ASSOCIATION.
' A STOCK FAIR PROPOSED. A special meeting of the General Committee of the Masterton A .and P. Association was. held on Saturday for the purpose of discussing the question of holding a stock fair. Mr. H. Morrison occupied the chair.
Mr. Matheson, of Ekotahuna, wrote suggesting that instead of holding a stock fair the association should ask the members for a straight-out donation on a basis of a halfpenny per acre of land owned by them. He forwarded a donation of Jil 4s. Gd. as a contribution on this basis. The chairman said that if it was intended to hold a stock fair the present would be the best occasion because times were now good. If prices, etc., were br<d the association would find it a difficult matter to obtain stock from farmers.
Members considered that it would bo easier to .obtain a bullock or a sheep from a farmer than a 6uni of money.
•It was eventually decided to postpone discussion till next Saturday, when it was hoped there would bo a larger attendance.
