On tho occasion of their relinquishing the lease of tho Princess Hotel, Molesworth Streot, Mr. and Mrs. J. Shortiss were on Saturday evening last the recipients of tokens of esteem from friends in tho immediate neighbourhood. The presentations, which were modo by Mr. Percy Rodgets, of tho Shamrock Hotel, consisted of a ca.se of pipes and a tobacco pouch to Mr. Shorliss, and a lady's companion to Mrs. Shortiss. Tho former suitably acknowledged the gifts. A Pulmerston High School boy, .1. D. Monro (son of Mr. .1. S. Monro) has been iiwarded a National Scholarship of «£SO per annum and University fees. Ho has already held the K-oid-Stobo Presbyterian Scholarship. Ho goes to Victoria College. —Press Aesocistioiu
