EX-SHAH OF PERSIA.

REDUCED PENSION GRANTED. By TeleerapU—Press Association-Copyright Teheran, March 3. The ex-Shah, whoso attempt to recover the Throne failed signally, has left for Baku aboard a Russian ship. Tho Persian Government has granted him a yearly pension of 75,000 tomans (about ,£26,500) in place, of the pension of 100,000 tomans to which ho was entitled until he began his plotting against the Government.

Mohamed Mirza was finally deposed on July 16, 1900, by tho Persian Parliament, and his son, Ahmed Mirza, a boy of 13 years, was proclaimed Shah in his stead under a Regency. The deposed Shah had attempted to overthrow the Constitution by a coup d'etat; ho had dispersed tho Assembly, and razed the Parliament House of the ground. At the approach of the Nationalist armies from Rosht ,and Ispahan he took refuge in the Russian Consulate. Russia intervened on his behalf, and an arrangement was made. Mohamed Ali was allowod to proceed to Russia, and he was guaranteed a pension, Russia, in return, agreed that the pension would be forfeited if tho ex-Shah was proved to ho engagod in any intrigue in Persia. It is no exaggeration to say that from the moment of his leaving Persia thoexShah was continually intriguing against the now regime. Tho Russian Government, to say the least, was guilty of a lack of vigilance. As far back as 1910 he was in open relations with the Turcomans of the frontier. In July last tho ox-Shah landed on Persian territory on tho shores of (he Caspian Sea and was received with enthusiasm at Astrabad. A reward of ,£20,000 was placed on his head by tho Mejliss, and n force was sent from Teheran against him. By tho end of Septomber his following was dispersed.
