Croquet Party at Hult. On Friday afternoon a most delightful little croquet parly was given by Mrs. Coverdale at her "new residence, "Tiro Moann," llutt. The lawn was in perfect playing order, and the garden, which is an old one remodelled, looked verv beautiful with its terraced lawns, o'ld trees, ami gaily-coloured borders. During the afternoon lea was handed round in the drawing-room, which was prettily arranged with shaded pink and ' blue liydrnngens and summer llnwars lo imilch the delicate shading of the room. Mrs. Covcrdalo reoeived her guests in a pretlv gown of lnack nnd whito striped voile, trimmed with black and finished with small black buttons. Among those present were: Mrs. llollis, Jlr's. Lcighton, Mrs. Harvey, Jlrs. Bridge. Mrs. T. C. Dawson, Mrs. Broadfoot, Mrs. Malcolmson, Mrs. Mathews, Mrs. Harris, Mrs. Dawson, and Miss Josoland (Sydney).

Lady Islington in Auckland. Lady Islington visited the Auckland Town Hall on Friday, and was met bv the Mayor (Mr. C. .1. Parr) and the Town Clerk (Mr. H. W. Wilson). Mr. Harold Gregson was practising at the grnnd organ at the time of the visit, and after hearing several selections Lady Islington expressed her pleasure, and said sho would look forward to hearing an organ recital in the hall at a later date. The chairman of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board (Mr. P. M. Miickay) and the resident secretary (Captain Thomas) waited upon Lady Islington, and requested her to perform the 'ceremony in connection with the opening of tho extension of the Nurses' Home on Wednesday, March 20. This her Excellency kindly promised to do, and invitations to tho function will be sent out shortly.
