STATE COAL MINE.
NEW SOUTH WALES BILL. By TeleETruh-Prcis Associatlon-GopyrUM Sydney, March 2. In the Assembly, Mr. Edden, Minister for Mines, said ho was prepared to accept an amendment to tho State Coal Mines Bill, restricting the sale of coal to the State services. The reason the Government was starting a mine "was the exorbitant prices charged by private owners. Ho quoted the success of tho State mines in other countries, including New Zealand. It was estimated that the cost of sinking, would be ,£08,200, and the estimated profit was .£23,500 a year, no felt sure that if the British Government owned a few mines the present trouble would bn ended in an hour. The debate was adjourned.
