FREEZING SHEEP.
SOME FURTHER MASTERTON AWARDS, At the recent Masterton show oris of the competitions in tho freezing classes was for five lons wool or long wool cross wethers under 21 months most suitable tor freezing and the' London market. The sheep were to bo judged at the show and then killed and further awards made. At the show tho competition resulted as follows :—Jolui Strang 1 and 2, H. H. Beetham 3 nnd lie, W. C. Buchanan v.h.c. J.he awards mado when tho sheep had been killed were as follow:—John Strang 1 (this sheep being first in the other competition), H. H. Beetham 2 (third at the show), W. E. Beetham 3 (unplaced at the shox). Another competition under similar conditions was also held 1 , this time for five lambs. The following awards were mode after tho sheep had been killed:—H. H. Beetham first (h.c. at show), W. Perry second (first at show), IV. H. Beetham third (unplaced), W. C. Buchanan and JV. H, Beetham i'ourtl (both unplaced in former competition), W. C. Buchanan and W. Perry fifth (both unplaced). Sir. H. 11. Beetham's sheep (pen No. 489), which were second at the show, Mr. J: C. M'Killop's sheep (pen No. 492), which were third, and Mr. John Strang's sheep (pen No. 493), which obtained'a r.h.c. ticket, wero ali unplaced in the second competition. The sheep were killed at the Wningawa meat works and graded by Mr. S. Bishop. The judging competition held in connection with the live freezing lambs class rc-sntled as follows:—P. Southey, Penrose, 1; C. S. Hay, Kourarau, 2; H. Montgomery, Masterton, 3; J. Tarbit, Penrose, 45.; James Strang, Gladstone, 5.
