With 2900 tons of to discharge at this port tho Shaw-Savill steamer Wnimann is due from Liverpool, via way ports on Monday. Departure will be taken for Lyttelton and Dunedin on Wednc.-day. Due back from Westport with a load of coal to-morrow, the Hauroto (eaves Wellington again on Tuesday for the West Coast port. Coal will be loaded there for Auckland and Suva. The Komnta, is due in port from Westport to-night. She leaves on tho return journov oil Tuesday. The V.'airuna. will leave Wellington for Napier on Tuesday, and the Taviuni and Poherun, which are due from Westport and Greymouth respectively on Sunday and Saturday, return to their respective ports on Tuesday.

CHRONOMETER HATING NOTICE. Hector Observatory, Wellington.—The position of the Hector Observatory is as follows :- Latitude, 4Uleg. 17min. J.76sec. South. Loinritiidi-, 11 hours 39inin. 4.275ec. East of Greenwich. Height, abovo 1939 mean sea level, 418 feet. Chronometer Rating Notice—At 1 p.m. to-tlav a galvanometer signal for rating chronometers will ha sent from the Observatory to the Public Telegraph Office anil to tho Dominion Museum. Tho needle will move at 1 p.m. exactly of New Zealand standard mean time, when a chronometer set to Greenwich mean time should show 13 hours 3Cmin. Any difference will be the error of the chronometer on Greenwich mean time. _ At 9 p.m. correct time will also bo signalled from the Observatory by means of electric lights. A green light will be switched oi\ at about 8.45 p.m., a red one at 'ibont 8.55 p.m.. and a white one at about 8.59 p.m.. and all lights will be switched off at 9 p.m. exactly of New Zealand standard mean time. The preparatory switching on of the lights must be considered as only approximately correct, and must not be used for rating chronometers.
