THE RIGHTS OF FREE LABOUR.

Sir,—"Unionism, bolstered by vote-catch-ing legislation, has produced a condition which greatly interferes with tho liberty of the subject. An employer has now in many instances to give preferenco of employment to unionists so that a nonunionist—who may have perfectly honourable! reasons for not joining a union'—is handicapped out of employment, ' Why, then, should not tho non-unionists form a union for the solo purpose cf removing tho disability under which they live!' And, further, why should not employers givo .a preference to the members of such freo labourers' union, whoso rules would embrace tho principles of no strikes and tho submission of all disputes to tho Arbitration Court? I admit tho suggestion is paradoxical, but at tho same time it is sound and honest.—l am, etc., SQUARE DEAL.
