THE ANNUAL MEETING,. (By Teleeraph—Press Association.) Greymouth, February 28. The annual meeting of tho Press Association was held to-day:—Present: Messrs. Brett, eluiriuan (Auckland "Star"). Selig (Ghristchurch "Press"), Smith (liunedin "Star"), Pirani (Foilding "Star"), Cai'son .Wanganui "Chronicle"), M'Cullough (Thames "Advertiser"), Duigan (Wangnnui "Herald"), M'Crobie (Waihi "Telegraph");.-Wynne (Waiknlo "Argus"), Muir (Gttborne "Herald"), Weston (Taraiiaki "Herald"), James (Grey Kivcr "Argus"), Kilgour (Greymonth "Star"). ■ Hyiuan (Lyttelton "Times"), Lucas (Xelsou "Mail"), Kcrr (Timaru "Herald"), Joyce (Timaru 'Tost"), Bell (Asliburton "Mail"). The annual report commented on tho continued enlargement of the cable service, which had nearly doubled in three years, and, notwithstanding the decrease in rates, was costing .£IOOO a year more than two years ago, despite tho omission of minor claims. Five hundred nnd fiftytwo thousand five hundred and fifteen words of original'cable matter had been supplied during the year, representing more than a million words when filled out for publication. Allusion was also made to the heavy work of reporting tho election campaign, and to tho great athletic gathering* which had made Now Zealand their venue last year. lira number of papers belonging to (he association was stated at "1. ~,,,, ... It was announced that the copyright report of Captain Scott's Antarctto• Expedition had been purchased. . The chairman (Mr. Brett), in moving the adoption of the report and balancesheet, delivered an address on the workin" of the association, with suggestions for the improvement of the sorvice, and mentioned, inter alia, that this year complcted the jubilee of his connection with journalism. (Applause.) The report was adopted. Messrs. I'- Blundell and Selig were reelected directors, and Mr. F. Shaw auditor. , Auckland was chosen for tho next placo of .meeting. The members passed a vote of condolence on the dentil of the late Mr. W. •\tkin, of tho Wostport "News," and one of hearty congratulation to Mr. Brett on his journalistic jubilee, was carted with great applause.
