FIGHTING ON" A KAXCir. New York, February 27. From Marfa, Texas, comes news that Mexican insurgents Mirrainded a rnncli opposite Sierra Dlancii, and fought a band of American cowboys for twelve hours. The insurgents sought to capture (he ranch, and (he cowboys defended it. Several were killed on both sides. An appeal was sent to a neighbouring ranch, and a parly of Americans have started to the relief of their compatriots.
MR. ROOSEVELT OFFERS TO RAISE TliOOl'S. Washington, February 27. Political circles are discussing a story to the effect (hat Mr. Roosevelt during (he late Mexican rebellion offered to send a regiment of cavalry if an invasion by the United Slates were decided upon. It is believed that President Taft did not receive the offer cordially.
MEXICAN GOVERNMENT ALARMED. (Rec. February 28, 11 p.m.) New York, February 28. The Sasquisla rebels occupied Juarez unopposed. They now intend advancing with a view to the capture of Chihuahua. The spread of the revolt is alarming the Mexican Government. The attackers at tho Nelson-Morris ranch were driven off. • Tho American rescue party, learning this, did ant invade Mexican territory as intended.
