ROCK SURFING.

The latest craze among surf bathers in Sydney now is "rock surfing." To shoot tho breakers successfully, and come in head foremost, like a homing arrow, upon the sandy beach is a difficult feat. But it has been mastered by many bathers, who then looked round for more worlds to conquer. The great rollers, hurling themselves with gigantic force against tho rocks which fringe the const beckoned an invitation, and it has been accepted bv many of the bolder spirits of the beach communities, and a fashion has been started which is likely to prove disastrous to many. Bathers used to the rocky 6hores of the Channel Islands have frequently laughed a little scornfully at the Taptures indulged in by beach surfers here, but' their accounts of shooting tho rock breakers were somewhat discounted. Nok, however, our Sydney youth has tasted this new and exhilarating pastime, and is smacking its lips over tho joy and danger of it An oxpert swimmer dives olf a rock into the boiling surge, and comes in on the crest of .a roller, carefully steering for' those rocks which aro thickly cushioned with chowder—tho heavy rock weed. An alert eye, an infallible judgment, and great muscular development (not to mention a satisfactory insurance policy) are needed by the horseman who would ride these Wdrrigal breakers.
