The House at once proceeded to a division on tho no-confidence motion, to add the following paragraph to tho Address-in-Reply :—

Witty Mr. SPEAKER/having announced that tho voting was equal, said, "That being tho case, and according to tho usual constitutional practice procedure when tho Houso is equally divided, it becomes my duty to give a casting vote. That vote is invariably given by tho Speaker in order to show that in his.vote ho is quito impartial in the way he gives that vote, especially when the House is undecided whether the House has confidence or not in the Government that sits on tho Government benches. As tho House is undecided on that question, it is my duty to my Tote with tho noes, winch I accordingly do, and declare the amendment lost." . There was no applause irhon the result was announced. Tho' Speaker then put the question: "That a respectful address to his Excellency tho Governor be agreed to." This was carried on the voices. The PRIME MINISTER moved that tho Houso on rising should adjourn until Thursday at 2.30 p.m. in order to give the Committee of Privilege timo to complete their work.
