Mr. Levien, in continuing his speech in the Legislative Council last night on the censuro' motion again.it the Speaker (Mr. Willis) attributed the Speaker's mistakes, while occupying the chair, to weakness and an overweening vanity. Mr. M'Gowon, the Premier, declared that' tho motion was tho most serious charge ever made in tho New South AVales Parliament. Ho maintained that though tho Speaker had been insulted ho had always maintained the dignity of his position. If tho chair had boon occupied by n.. man without firmness and dignity, the House would liavo been a bedlam. Tho Speakor, replying from the chair, was subjected to continual interjections. Ho declared ho had always, been careful to act in accordance with the Standing Orders, and had been jealous of the honour of tho House, and anxious to do justice to all. In so far a3 he had failed was duo to the frailty of human nature. When he had concluded he called on Mr. Levien to reply. Several Opposition members wished to speak, and when they wero not allowed to do so left tho Chamber. The motion was defeated by 31 votes to 0, only two members of the Opposition voting.
